What we liked
This guitar package is clearly aimed at the beginner, as it comes with all the basic accessories that you would expect: a tuner, strap and a case. The selection of picks is a nice addition- especially for a beginner who maybe hasn’t yet found which pick thickness they prefer.
The package also includes a guitar stand- which is great for when you don’t want to put the guitar completely away (or it can make a nice addition to the room…) and a free online lesson aimed at the complete beginner.
Other great features include the customized pickguard, which can be seen in the image above (this pattern is optional, it also comes in just black), and the ‘bear claw’ neck inlays to mark the fret positions.
What we didn’t like
Although it sounds great, the Sawtooth ST-ADN-D-KIT-3 is not the easiest guitar to play for something aimed at the beginner (as the lesson suggests). The action is fairly high, which means you’re pushing the strings further and harder to get each note.
Also some manufacturing flaws definitely make a difference! Sometimes the nut is not aligned correctly, which means the strings are over the wrong part of the fretboard. This is fixable, but why should you need to?
Well, fo an inexpensive instrument from a virtually unknown company, this guitar is pretty much what you’d expect. There are some small flaws in the construction, including high action, but these may not be enough to put you off, depending on your preference.
You can buy this guitar if you want something cheap, but don’t expect a complete beginner to get on with this one, as the lower quality may make it more difficult to play.
Having said that, the sound is beautifully warm and rich, so if you’re a bit more experienced you may enjoy this guitar.
It’s probably for this reason, that the Sawtooth ST-ADN-D-KIT-3 does have some good reviews on Amazon from very satisfied customers!
